Gay Lifestyle Blog by Hello Sailor TMH!
Every time I see LGBT, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, it makes me a little crazy. There are some who advocate for adding more letters to the lineup. Gender queer, Questioning (you don't get a letter since you haven't made your mind up - ok don't get your panties in a wad PC police, I am just kidding), Cis-Gender, etc. We could add a QRSTUV etc. until the cows come home. Everybody wants their label on their piece of the proverbial pie. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could just choose one word that says it all? I think the perfect word would be Exceptional.
Here are some examples as to how it would be used.
Don and Danny have been together 14 years. It wasn't until 2010, when Exceptional marriage was passed in Washington, DC, that they could be legally married.
Jane and Sally, an Exceptional couple, adopted two African American boys. Although their sons are wonderful in every aspect, it is doubtful they will be Exceptional when they grow up.
Larry never felt comfortable in his body, he always knew inside that he was a girl. Tomorrow he is going in for Exceptional surgery. When he wakes up she will be known as Lauren.
Bob is a happily married man. Although he is satisfied with the sex life he shares with his wife, occasionally he gets a taste for dick. Sometimes his wife, Wendy, gets a taste for a little puss. They consider themselves Exceptional as they can enjoy either gender.
I think living outside the box does make us Exceptional. In a perfect world, labels wouldn't be a necessity. What if being different was just normal and seen as something to celebrate? Then we wouldn't have to be Exceptional. Everybody would be Exceptional.
One can dream, but we still have a lot of work to do. Every day we are making progress. We may take a few steps back, but we always push forward because we are EXCEPTIONAL.
